Dear Members of MBDyn,

I thankful for everyone who helped me replying to all my emails.

I have a question related to xangle, yangle and zangle model namespace. What kind of data are using exactly, the nodes are assigned to a beam too?

They refer to the three components of the Euler vector that expresses the orientation of the corresponding node. The Euler vector is a vector whose direction is that of the finite rotation between the current orientation of the node and the absolute reference frame, and whose magnitude is the magnitude of the rotation. From this vector, one can reconstruct the orientation matrix using Rodrigues' formula,

R = I + sin(|theta|)/|theta| theta x + (1 - cos(|theta|))/|theta| theta x theta x

where "x" stands for the cross product operator.

See here for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodrigues%27_rotation_formula

Sincerely, p.

In the manual is written rotation vector, does it mean the Euler angles?

Thank you for your kind attention.

Best Regards,
Antonio Mazzanti
