MBDyn has some (limited) capability to spread load on SMP machines.
However, for small models, no significant advantages result, because the
overhead related to scheduling multiple threads eats up all improvements.

If you build on a SMP machine with --enable-multithread and HP's
atomic_ops library is available, MBDyn will use multiple threads for
assembly and other operations. You can try and see if you get any
improvements.

Cheers, p.
